As followers of Christ, Easter morning signifies the promise of new life, hope, forgiveness, mercy and grace. But we also remember the Garden of Gethsemane and picture the scene in our own minds, the coldness of the air, the loneliness and fear Christ experienced as He fell to the ground crying out to His Father. “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,” Going a little farther, He prayed that if possible the hour might pass from Him, “Abba, Father,” He said “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet, not what I will, but what you will.” Mark 14:34-36. He was alone and His soul was overwhelmed with sorrow. Soon He would journey to the cross, a journey which signifies the ultimate sacrifice.
This is the greatest expression of love, the pouring out of His own blood, His very life. This act of love through the pouring out of His life blood provides a way for forgiveness and through that forgiveness a relationship with God, a God of love. God is also a God of kindness, grace and mercy who poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. His life has not only been poured out for us but His life has been poured into us who by faith have trusted in Him.
God’s amazing love is beyond any earthly love we have known and He asks us to pour His love into the hearts of others in need of love.
Easter is a time to witness the victory of the cross in God’s love being poured out, Gods’ Spirit being poured out and God’s life being poured into our hearts so that we can pour that life of love into others.
Dear Father
We thank you for the amazing grace that surrounds our lives each day. Keep our hearts tender, our spirits humble and our eyes and minds open to your will in our lives.
In Jesus Name
Amen
But when the kindness and love of God our Saviour appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Saviour, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:4-7
With love and blessings this Easter Time X
